A New and Popular Technique for Wedding Hairstyles
Every bride wants something different and unique for their wedding day. Most wedding hairstyles are designed the same these days - French twists, buns or curls. Same thing, different wedding - that's all. My sister started the hobby of styling hair in her early teens. She did my hair different everyday for school, and now her specialty is doing hair for proms and weddings. She has created some out of this world looks and I would like to share some ideas with you on what she has came up with. Hair is sometimes hard to explain, it is easier seen than talked about of course. So I will try to do my best by explaining how to create unique wedding hair style looks for your wedding day. The technique I will be discussing is called "spiking," or that's what we call it. The Spiked Look This can be used on a short or long haired bride. The spiked look involved having pieces of hair stick up to a "spike" while a design is behind it. This can be created in a couple different variations. The first one is a French Twisted Spike look.
A basic French twist is done to the hair (preferably higher than usual) first. Spikes are created by taking the rest of the hair and creating ?" - 1" pieces that stick out - bobby pin the excess end of the hair. Stabilize them by using hair balm, such as a wax, pomade or extra strength holding gel. Depending on the weather that day, make sure to use the one that will hold up the best. This can also be created on the top of the head without a French Twist. You can do twists starting from the hairline, and use the excess hair to create spikes a little above the crown of the head, kind of like a hair band of these spikes. This can also be done with braids in the front, and if you have a talented braided, they can criss-cross the braids or design them to your liking. You can also do a bun with half of the hair, and create spikes with the bun by pulling pieces (1/4" thick strands) and spiking them only. Again, bobby pins help a great deal going for this hair style. The bottom portion of the hair is just left down, straightened. You can also use these spikes with a tiara. Use half the hair to create somewhat of a "mountain" on the top of your head inside of the tiara, and again take strands creating small spikes.A side bun can be done with this style also; this is more for those with a round face. Part hair on the left side, and bring bun to right side - or vice versa. Which ever looks better for you, choose that one. Now, again you will be creating spikes coming out of the bun.
